Palmas del Mar Country Club

Palmas del Mar Country Club is one of the greatest advantages of the Palmas resort.

Palmas Country Club Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the master developer, Palmas del Mar Properties, Inc. ("PDMPI"), is the owner of the extensive recreational amenities located within the Palmas Del Mar master planned community. These facilities are available for use by both members of the Club, typically homeowners of Palmas and the surrounding area, and resort guests making use of any of a wide variety of lodging and condominium facilities located within Palmas. Therefore, they will be all part of your palm vacation. In addition, to the extent available, given the priority to members and Palmas resort guests, the golf facilities are available to the public. The following facilities, which are described in more detail in the following sections, encompass three principal recreational activities:

GOLF

Fronting a long sandy beach, Palmas del Mar Country Club on Puerto Rico's southeast coast offers two fine world class courses. The Flamboyan Course, a solid layout by Rees Jones opened in 1998, is a multi-theme design woven through wetlands, meadows, and coconut palms, with several holes bordering the Caribbean Sea. Jones also reworked the resort's Palm course, creating three new holes and revamping several others.

The Flamboyan Course
The Flamboyan Course, designed by internationally renowned golf architect Rees Jones, fully opened for play in December 1998 and has already raised the benchmark by which all future Caribbean golf courses will be measured.

Offering golfers of all levels both a challenging golf experience and a beautiful setting in which to play, the Flamboyan has already been ranked as the fifth best course in the Caribbean (Barron's, March 29, 1999) as well as the best in Puerto Rico. As noted in its review of Caribbean courses, the Flamboyan is expected to move even further up the rankings as it matures and is exposed to the broader golf community.

The Palm Course

• Long ranked as the #1 course in Puerto Rico (and currently ranked #15 in the Caribbean by Barron's), the Palm Course, designed by Gary Player, winds its way throughout Palmas with several oceanfront holes. Having hosted such events as Shell's Wonderful World of Golf, the Palm Course has, since its construction in 1974, served as one of the principal attractions of Palmas to visitors and prospective real estate purchasers.

The Clubhouse
The Club's new 25,000 square foot clubhouse, designed by a team of award winning designers; Chris Consultants (building architecture), Lynn Wilson (interior design), and Design Masters (pro shop); has been created to meet any and all needs of its users.

In addition to separate locker room facilities for members and visitors, a complete pro shop offering the full range of instructional, equipment and clothing needs to golfers, and snack and deli facilities catering to golfers on the course; the Clubhouse offers a fine dining facility.

Tennis

The Club offers the most complete private tennis facility in the Caribbean . Palmas is a tennis lover's dream with 20 courts, including both clay and hard courts and many of which are lighted for night play; its own food and beverage facilities, and a full fitness facility.

Well known as one of the most prestigious and active private tennis clubs in Puerto Rico , the tennis facility hosts many local and regional tournaments. With its full staff of professionals, under the auspices of the internationally known management firm, Peter Burwash International, the tennis facilities keep active players busy year round, with both daily activities and a variety of special events.

Beach Club

The new Beach Club that opened its doors in November of 2000 provides its members with several highly desired amenities, which include the following:

• A 7,650 square foot pool area, and whirlpool;
• Extensive landscaping;
• Playground facilities for children, including a toddler's pool;
• Direct access to the beach; and
• Parking

Nestled in a most exclusive ambiance, our Beach Club is the new "in" place to relax and have fun. Members will now be able to enjoy being part of this special facility, the first one of its type in Puerto Rico . Some select communities include a Beach Club membership with the home.

The Beach Club features a reception area, a private sitting beach area, the "Pelican's Watch Poolside Bar", chaise lounges, an ample sun deck, a beach volleyball court and parking facilities for cars and golf carts. In a tropical style pavilion with imposing views of the Caribbean Sea , members will have the choice of dining on the veranda or by the pool.

All this in addition to the 8,000 sq. Ft. Swimming pool with water slide, three 25-yard lap-pool lanes, a toddler pool and Jacuzzi. Also available for our members are day use lockers and shower facilities.

The Caribbean style architecture of The Beach Club provides a lively and colorful ambiance within a lush tropical setting. The Club offers a fine dining experience. The renowned French Chef, Daniel Vasse, owner of the multiple award-winning restaurant Chez Daniel, manages the restaurant. Furthermore, The Beach Club has become the social center for the entire Palmas community.

The Palmas academy

The Palmas Academy is a private, non-profit organization providing a pre-kinder to twelfth grade college preparatory program. It was founded in 1992 by a group of parents and educators. The Academy is a co-educational, non-sectarian institution with English as the language of instruction and an excellent Spanish curriculum.

The Palmas Academy is located in the Palmas del Mar residential resort. The campus has 18 acres of land surrounded by beautiful natural settings. The Academy has access to many of the resort facilities such as swimming pools, tennis courts, golf, and equestrian areas.
